Britney Spears has reportedly sent boyfriend Jason Trawick home to the US after he turned down her marriage proposal.

Spears, who has been having a rough ride in Australia, popped the question to Trawick 10 days ago in Sydney but was said to be shocked and dismayed when he declined.

“Britney simply assumed he’d say yes and she couldn’t believe it when he said no,” a source in the Spears camp told a Sydney newspaper.

“She was furious and embarrassed and it was going to cause major problems if he stayed around. So she told him to get on the next plane home and he was gone within 24 hours and she’s been getting on with things without him.”

Trawick, who doubles as her manager, was seen with Spears’s sons during the Australian tour but often looked flat and unimpressed.

Spears has endured walkouts and scorn over her lip-synching show in Australia. Her tour bus flipped off-road in New South Wales last week, injuring its driver.

But she treated her cast and crew to a swish finale party in Melbourne at an exclusive club, Eve.
